The article describes the evolution of the pigmeat market in the Czech Republic in the period 2007-2012 including both the pig breeding and the use of pigmeat including its consumption. The article thoroughly analyses the primary production part of the sector, that is the structure of enterprises, the evolution of pig population, and the production and use of pigmeat including its consumption. It also describes in detail the evolution of the international trade with pigs, pigmeat and products from pigmeat in the period 2007-2012. At the same time compares the situation in the pigmeat sector in the Czech Republic with selected EU countries. Then the economics of production of pigmeat in the Czech Republic in the period 2008-2012 is evaluated in detail followed by a comparison of the whole sector in the international competition.
